Acupuncture

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a dynamic therapy that has developed as a result of centuries of practical and clinical experience, it's over 3000 years old. TCM is a respected form of medicine in Australia and worldwide and has been formally recognised by the World Health Organisation (WHO), Australian universities and private health insurance companies.

Acupuncture works in harmony with the body to achieve homeostatic balance; the body’s natural, well state. Fine, single use disposable needles are inserted into specific points on the skin or the application of various other complimentary techniques to these points to enable healing.

Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory is based on the movement of an energy force called Qi (pronounced ‘chi’), which circulates through channels in the body called meridians. When this flow is disrupted, negative health consequences may follow. Through the stimulation of particular acupuncture points, the disruption can be corrected and the flow of Qi restored. By correcting imbalances using TCM's unique diagnostic system, acupuncture can provide symptomatic relief and treat underlying causes, making it an effective tool for healing the body as well as a powerful preventative therapy.

Acupuncture and TCM has a substantial and ever growing body of evidence to support it's treatment efficacy for many conditions. The Acupuncture Evidence Project published in 2017 aims to analyse and clarify research available for some of the conditions Acupuncture can treat.
